El Dorado

An ecotourism facility on the slopes of Santa Marta off the Sierra Nevadas in Colombia.

A haven for at least 10 endemic species of birds on the slopes of a mountain surrounded by large expanses of low lying forests. This modern 'finca' sits on the lands of a former coffee plantation site at the edge of Colombia adjacent to the caribbean seas.

The cabins and avian research station are to be constructed from the non-indigenous tree species in order to rehabilitate this ecological landscape.

The project will be carved from these mexican pines originally planted to stabilize the slopes for the plantation terracing.
